7/4/20 Update

Hello ADA Families!

THANKS to all the families that participated in the Red Carpet Recital Experience! We are now turning our eyes to a safe reopening of the studio on July 6. We look forward to seeing you soon. 🙂

Thank you to everyone for FINISHING STRONG with us in our 14th Season! The character your children exhibited as they finished what they began, showed up when it was hard, and put a smile on their face even on days where they did not feel like it is to be COMMENDED. At ADA we say “We don’t teach dance to just make great dancers, we teach dance to make great KIDS!”  You guys have some great kids. 🙂

RETURNING TO THE STUDIO
We are looking towards the future with enthusiasm and wisdom! Allison’s Dance Academy will return to face-to-face service at the studio on July 6th for dance classes with our Safer Studio Plans in place. PLEASE BE SURE TO REVIEW THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT ON OUR POLICIES FOR REOPENING.

CARE AND AWARENESS
While we are beyond excited to begin seeing you again, we are proceeding with the utmost care and reasonable caution in order to protect our staff and students and everyone’s families. Although we cannot predict every possible unique circumstance, we believe the measures outlined below provide our staff and students with the best balance of safety, wellness, and ability to participate in the performing arts which is good for mind, body, and spirit right now!

To prioritize everyone’s health and well-being as we return, we have a few important procedures in place, which are listed below. These protocols were written in consideration of guidelines from the CDC and the State of South Dakota. We all must remember that the protective measures we establish are, for a variety of reasons, unlikely to be practiced perfectly by children, especially in an active environment. It is of extreme importance then that ALL adults—staff and parents alike—must be willing to adopt our protocols, monitor their health and their family’s health, and seek COVID-19 testing and isolation promptly if they suspect infection.

SAFER STUDIO PLAN
Our studio will focus on four key and realistic components to keep kids happy, healthy, and safe in dance and gymnastics.

This is a part of our phased lobby opening. Please plan for only one person to enter the building per student, keeping all other family members at home or relaxed in the car until it is time to retrieve your student. We still encourage lots of friendly conversations and smiles in our lobbies and parking lots with other families while still maintaining social distancing. 🙂

Before arriving at the studio, parents are required to screen their children for symptoms related to COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses, and children are not permitted to attend if any symptoms are present.

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
We ask that parents not drop off more than 5 minutes early or pick up too late and that students be taught to maintain a proper social distance to conduct friendly conversations. Masks are optional for all parents and students. Teachers will ask to hand sanitize the class coming in and out and ample sanitizer will be distributed around the facility. Please have your child bring a labeled water bottle with them.

A PEEK INSIDE THE CLASSROOMS
Our staff are required to self-screen for the symptoms related to COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses, and are not permitted to work if any symptoms are present. Staff will be maintaining proper hygiene such as hand washing when they enter the building. If a staff member or student becomes ill, displays symptoms, or looks/acts unwell while on the studio premises, they will be isolated and sent home as soon as possible.

Dance bags will come into the classroom to limit interactions. Our teachers will have a rotation system for ballet barre use and barres and props will be thoroughly cleaned between users. For Dance Camps, props and supplies used by participants will remain consistent throughout the week. Doable, safe distancing will be practiced while dancing with a modified warm-up and modified choreography to ensure maximum allowable space between individuals.

COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Please check your email before coming to classes as this is our main method of communication in case of changes or updates. We will also give you friendly reminders and information about upcoming events.

We are so excited to cautiously and responsibly welcome back our dancers and gymnasts! If you have any questions about our Safer Studio Summer Plan please feel free to email office@allisonsdanceacademy.com or call us at 605-582-5678. Together we will walk a straight and steady line and continue to keep kids happy, healthy, and safe in dance and gymnastics lessons.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thanks!

Much Love,
Allison Porter

3/17/20 Update
Dear ADA Families,

We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and the daily updates. As you know we have temporary suspension of classes in place and are re-evaluating daily. Please watch your emails for the latest updates.

While we won’t be physically in the studio, our team is currently working to provide you with service continuity in a new and exciting way for your children. Our staff is rising to the challenges we are facing so we can continue to provide a dance and gymnastics education to the students that we care for during these challenging times.

We invite you to stay tuned for the launch of a comprehensive website with online content for our youngest through advanced students. We will have video content for all ages, fun challenges, messages from our teachers, along with other fun! Although you won’t be walking through our physical doors, we are going to invite you and your child to walk through our digital doors next week.

We are committed to you and your children. Once this settles down, we will re-evaluate and make adjustments as needed in regards to fulfilling the number of classes for the season (whether it’s through virtual or in-person). We are committed to continuing to offer you the best customer service and experience that you expect from ADA.

We will have a recital. Your kids have worked so hard and we want to give them the opportunity to celebrate. At this time we have been in communication with the school and currently recital is as scheduled. Tickets are expected to go on sale online April 6. Again, we will be monitoring the situation and will update you via email if anything changes.

We appreciate your continued support and partnership during this challenging time.

With love and appreciation,
Allison Porter

3/16/20 Update for IA Studios:

Dear ADA Family,

At ADA the health and safety of our faculty and students are our most important priorities.

We have determined that it is in the best interest of our faculty and families to temporarily suspend all classes for this week (March 16-March 20).

Also, we run a 30 week dance season, BUT we had scheduled for 33 weeks on the calendar this year! That means we already had extra weeks of class built into our schedule, for which we are VERY grateful.

We are planning to resume classes along with the local schools. If anything changes with that timeline we will let you know.

In the meantime, we have received our recital costumes and recital dates remain unchanged. We will continue to monitor the situation, and should other changes to our season be needed we will update you accordingly.

As always, but especially now, we greatly appreciate your support during these challenging times and so do all of the kids and teachers.

In partnership,
Allison Porter

3/13/20 Update for SD Studios:
Dear ADA Family,

At ADA the health and safety of our faculty and students are our most important priorities.

This afternoon Gov. Kristi Noem has mandated all South Dakota K-12 schools to close for one week beginning Monday, March 16.

We have determined that it is in the best interest of our faculty and families to temporarily suspend all classes for that time period as well.
